I've tried making speculaas cookies for 5th December for a few years now, but the spice mix has always felt a little bit off - this recipe is delicious! The perfect balance of sweet warm spices with a tiny kick of ginger and pepper and just enough saltiness to bring out all the flavours, I'll be bookmarking for use in the future!qlaurahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02482459437243813584noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6470576729337424355.post-66733856917516473282021-01-01T21:40:22.043-06:002021-01-01T21:40:22.043-06:00My mother made these with melted butter, and just ...My mother made these with melted butter, and just mixed the whole lot together and put in a flat tin (like a swiss roll tin), cut into squares after. The trick with cooking was always to take it out while still soft because it hardened on standing, but her recipe was buttery and crumbly rather than crisp and crunchy (too soft for the moulds).Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03267292816861213781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6470576729337424355.post-51407003032229681132020-07-30T21:24:09.558-05:002020-07-30T21:24:09.558-05:00Thank you very much Thank you very much Fabnfithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18233193610772670709noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6470576729337424355.post-77940268491865499162019-09-25T05:33:44.529-05:002019-09-25T05:33:44.529-05:00This is a delicious recipe and I thank you so much...This is a delicious recipe and I thank you so much for taking the time to write it down! Here is my recipe, 1 part spice mix, 5 parts dark brown sugar and 4 parts of white sugar. Has anyone thought of trying this spice mix in a crumble form for the tops of cakes or muffins? I just might have to try it!m101ic3https://www.blogger.com/profile/12788137413336084915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6470576729337424355.post-10309106581536423922017-04-16T00:03:14.063-05:002017-04-16T00:03:14.063-05:00I need to try this recipe, a dearly departed famil...I need to try this recipe, a dearly departed family friend was from Holland. She used to make a bar cookie that was fried slowly on top of the stove in a cast iron pan. She said it was an old Dutch cookie but her grandma never had an oven so everything was cooked on top of the woodburning stove. She never shared the recipe but they were so good. Nell said she just rolled the dough into a log shape and cut it into bars. It has been over 20 yrs since I have had those bar cookies.bandithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13013048717191637889noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6470576729337424355.post-74752082769924635532017-02-21T07:40:56.281-06:002017-02-21T07:40:56.281-06:00I'm so thankful I found this recipe!
